Dan Bricklin on the pod
Back in 1979, a couple of guys called Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston wrote the first spreadsheet program, Visicalc, which almost single-handedly launched the mass sales of microcomputers (in particular the Apple II) into businesses and onto people’s d…

Great interview. Rememer first hearing about Dave when I watched Accidental Empries (well that was the books name the video might have had a different name) by Robert X Cringley. I am not sure if you guys have seen it, but its a great show (Cam: Available at the Port Philip Library if you haven’t seen it. Its a three video set).
On that point, that would be someone I would love to hear on your podcast, Robert X Cringley. Have seen two of his Documentaries and they are classics (Nerds 2.0.1 was the other about the start of the internet).

Yeah…i’ve thought about trying to get Robert on…that would be pretty cool…along with Stewart Cheifet from “Computer Chronicles” and “Net Cafe”.

I have seen and read Robert’s books, and they are entertaining enough, but he’s a bit of a random Microsoft basher.

The Nerds series of videos he did was pretty well done though…some of his newer video’s , like the recent one on the stock market, have been pretty good as well.

Great interview with Dan Bricklin. This brought back so many memories for me. For a time Programmers Paradise’s Lifeboat Software division published our ED for Windows product (http://www.getsoft.com). They published Dans’ Demo which he mentioned on the show.
During contact negotiations Lifeboat put Dan forward as a reference and suggested I talk to him. Dan was well known to me and building up the courage to call him from down here in Australia wasn’t the easiest thing in the world to do. Anyway I did and we had a brief but interesting chat and I felt great when I got off the phone.
I enjoyed every minute of the interview. It was inspiring and will help give me a little boost with my new product Surfulater.
Keep up these great podcasts coming guys.
