the MP3 appears to be broken. Trouble ticket is in…standby…Update: there’s something going wonky with the TPN servers and the MP3 file for this show. Nobody knows what’s wrong and nobody knows how to fix it, but in a nutshell - the MP3 keeps resetting its permissions to something that prevents anyone from downloading it. I’m going to upload a new MP3, but that will take a few hours to get online. Hopefully that will solve it. Stay tuned…
Thanks for sticking with us during the delay. TPN’s servers are now uber-powered and that should mean a whole new reliability experience for all of us!
Mick’s not talking, but I think the upgrade took so long because hard drives spin the opposite way down under and that caused some hardware issues, but we’ll never know.
Onto the show…
Anti-virus: Thanks for all the tips. Looks like there really is only two out there: ClamAV and a personal edition of F-Prot.
This week’s show has Aaron Seigo, V.P. of Partying, project lead of the KDE Plasma project.
Ignore my psycho breathing…mic troubles :)

Mp3 link is still broken. I’m getting the following error:
Forbidden
You don’t have permission to access /audio/linuxuser/tpn_linuxuser_20051003_018.mp3 on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Hi Jon,
another great show, Arron seems a real cool guy. As a paid up kde fan boy I have to say I’m real excited about KDE version 4. I’d really love this to take away the thunder of Vista, which other than some nice eye candy doesn’t appear to me to be innovative at all. Anyway I’ll put $20 dollars towards the penguin fund. Keep up the good work Jon.
How about using Mandriva 2006 or SUSE 10 for your rpm distro?
Take it easy

Hi John,
Glad you liked the show. Aaron is a cool guy. It’s nice to talk to someone so involved and so high up in a project that can still relate to us guys :)
Thanks for the Penguin fund comittment. If I get at least once more person interested, I’ll open up a Fundable.org dealie and get things going. I think it’d be really cool to sponsor a penguin!
Thanks again!

Hey Jon,
Didn’t you already know that the hard drives spin the opposite way down here? Just an added tip, if you need to use an Australian HD in a US/Canadian drive, you actually need to smear it in Vegemite! (NB: this is a joke (okay a poor one but a joke none the less) and no responsibility will be accepted if you break your machine with Vegemite).
Molly
PS Find out about Vegemite here: http://www.vegemite.com.au/
