TPN Mentioned in Smart Company

May 6th, 2008

Congratulations to TPN’s Stan Relihan from The Connections Show for this positive write up in Smart Company magazine!

Smart Company

It’s nice to report some good news for a change! :-)

TPN’s Re-boot Completed!

May 1st, 2008

Well FINALLY the new servers are up and running! Massive thanks for Jagadeesh, Ram and Jimy, the team at X-Minds who got us back up. You’ll be hearing a lot more about them from me over the coming months. If you are looking for a great technical team to work with in India, these guys get my vote. They were recommended to me by Phil Morle from Pollenizer, so I need to thank him as well.

No doubt, there will still be a range of bugs and blips across TPN and we’ll work on removing all of them soon.

Then - it’s on to our growth plans. With the support of X-Minds, I’ve got a range of things I want to do this year, including adding a bunch of new shows, a TPN store, and more.

TPN update 29/04/08

April 28th, 2008

Hey folks, just a quick update about the state of TPN’s servers. Those brand new servers we’ve been building have taken a bit longer to get up and running than we had hoped. The techs are working their asses off and at the moment we expect the new servers to be running in the next 48 hours. The gods are obviously cranky with me at the moment. What did I do???

Anyway, in the meantime, you might notice a few glitches across TPN, with rss feeds, etc. If you do, please take a screenshot and email me CAMERON REILLY.

TPN - Expect A Little Turbulence

April 14th, 2008

I just informed the TPN hosts that the techs and I have decided to re-build the TPN servers from scratch over the course of the next week.

Why would we do this?? Have we gone craaaazy?

Over the last week, it’s become evident that the TPN servers are completely frakked. Every time we fix something, it breaks down somewhere else.

In order to break out of this recursive loop, we’re going to build some brand new servers and migrate over the old content.

I’ve been told it should take 3 - 5 days, assuming our hosting provider can get me some new servers quickly. In the meantime, any TPN shows that break (like G’Day World currently is), will just have to stay broken. No point fixing them only for them to break again 24 hours later.

Ahhhh…. the joys of being a one-person, unfunded, online media company. Sometime I wish I’d just bent over, grabbed my knees, assumed the position, and let the VC’s invest….

how a VC invests

… nah, just kiddin’. We’ll make it through this!

Ladies and gentlemen, please ensure your seatbelts are fastened and tray tables stowed securely - this could get bumpy.

TPN troubles

April 10th, 2008

As some of you may have noticed, over the last couple of weeks, TPN has been having some significant technical troubles. Our servers were hacked and a bunch of things were broken. This has resulted in delays in publishing shows, RSS isn’t working (so iTunes isn’t picked up new shows), formatting errors, comments errors, email spam… the list goes on.

First of all, I want to apologize to TPN’s hosts and audience for the problems. They are entirely my fault. Despite my best efforts, we haven’t had a technical team working on TPN for the last six months or more. This has meant that our software upgrades didn’t happen and exploits became available. And hence our problems now.

The good news is that we’ve got a great team working on it at the moment and things are slowly getting back to normal. Most of the sites are now up and functioning. RSS is still broken but we’re making progress on resolving that. If you notice any problems with TPN, please feel free to email me (cameron@thepodcastnetwork.com) a screenshot and I’ll get the techs to look into it!

And once again, my apologies for the disruption.

In the meantime, here’s something to make you laugh.
